  • Xbox One Update Allows Custom Gamerpics, Co-Streaming Via Mixer
    Bald Bouncer
The latest Xbox One firmware update comes with quite the bevy of features. The main appeal seems to be custom Gamerpics which is a fancy word for allowing users to upload their own profile pictures. These can be uploaded from an Xbox One, Windows 10 PC or your smartphone. Keep in mind that your picture should adhere to the Code of Conduct since all users will be able to see it.

The July update also allows Mixer users to co-stream, which means that up to four players on their...

    Bald Bouncer
Brand new footage for the upcoming Xbox One and Windows 10 game Crackdown 3 was released today. It’s 10 minutes of free roaming gameplay, meaning we get to see the style of free form action that made the games cult classics to begin with, and we also get to see some brand new abilities, as well as the Black Hole Gun.

That’s not all, either- the footage is running on the Xbox One X, so we get to see what is likely to be the system’s showcase launch...

  • Xbox One X Benchmarks Reveal How Existing Games Will Perform At 4K Resolutions
    Bald Bouncer
We’ve heard so much about how powerful the Xbox One X is- but ultimately, the best demonstration of that is seeing it in action for ourselves, and understanding how it is working behind the scenes, if we cant. Most gamers can’t, of course- but the fine folks at Digital Foundry can, and they posted a lengthy video explaining how games perform on the Xbox One X versus the existing Xbox One S.

According to the analysis, Forza 7 uses up 77.8% of the GPU power in the original Xbox...

  • Crackdown 3 seems to be an average (or possibly below average) looking game
    Bald Bouncer
It’s going to feel a bit comfortable for many Crackdown veterans excited to get back into the improved world that is Crackdown 3. With its artistic style, insanely fun weapons and explosions, and fun characters, this is definitely a game for those who’ve been wanting leave the critically panned Crackdown 2 in the shadows, and remember the glory days of the original Crackdown. But don’t get too ahead of yourself, this E3 had the gameplay set on the story mode. So all of that massive city destruction...

  • Halo 6 – 343 Industries Ensures That It Will Have Its ‘Grand Moments’ Again
    Bald Bouncer
People were amazed at the complete and total lack of Halo at E3 this year. With Microsoft and Xbox relying so heavily on the first person shooter franchise, people expected there to be news of Halo 6 at this year’s conference. Developers 343 Industries, however, have assured fans that while we didn’t hear of where the franchise is headed in the future, we will soon enough, and that the team is working hard on whatever is next.

  • Albert Penello: Xbox Scorpio Is What We Promised- A Huge Leap Ahead Of Other Consoles

The Xbox Scorpio was finally revealed to some degree yesterday – we know what the specs and performance gains for the new system will be, but we don’t yet know the final name, release date, or even what the console looks like – which means Microsoft now no longer has to speak in tantalizing vague hints, and can instead speak to users directly about the fruits of their labor.

Speaking to fans directly on Twitter yesterday, Microsoft’s Head of Product Development Albert Penello did exactly that. Sounding proud of the work that his team had pulled, Penello noted that the Scorpio was exactly what Microsoft had promised at E3 last year.

“There is so much more to Project Scorpio than just the numbers. It’s a huge leap ahead of any other console,” he said. “Going back and watching [the reveal] video from [last] E3 makes me super emotional. I think today we delivered what we promised.”

It is hard to doubt that Microsoft did live up to its word as far as the hardware goes- the Scorpio is indeed a class apart from anything else on the market. The team at Xbox can take pride in their work. Now, we just need some compelling games that will actually make some meaningful use of all this power that the Scorpio has. Then, and only then, will the Scorpio be appealing to the general customer.
