  • Super’s Lucky Tale Targeting Native 4K and 60FPS on Xbox One X- Report
    Bald Bouncer
The Xbox One X is ostensibly the most powerful home console ever made- but the question remains, how many developers will actually bother utilizing and leveraging its extra power, since they have to target the base Xbox One and Xbox One S as well?

Well, apparently Playful is doing that with its upcoming Super’s Lucky Tale, the full 3D platforming sequel to the former Oculus Rift exclusive. The game, which is due to launch on November 7 right alongside the Xbox One X, will apparently...

As per Aaron Greenberg, who is the marketing manager of Xbox, that has been the general consensus among almost every developer that has worked on an Xbox One X dev kit so far.

“There’s a lot of third party partners, where each week we hear more stories about ‘hey, we got our dev kits, this is what...

  • Destiny 2 on Xbox One X Has No Enhancements Planned
    Bald Bouncer
Yesterday, it was revealed that Bungie’s Destiny 2 will run at 30 FPS on the Xbox One X, ignoring all the power the console has to possibly provide a 60 FPS experience. However, as it turns out, the Xbox One X version of the shooter has no enhancements planned for the Xbox One X whatsoever. This was confirmed when WCCFTech spoke to Bungie design lead Lars Bakken who specifically said the developer was aiming for the same experience on all platforms.

    So no higher resolution textures,...

  • Original Xbox ‘Duke’ Controller Releasing For Xbox One and PC Later This Year
    Bald Bouncer
The original Xbox controller, called the ‘Duke’, was an utter monstrosity. It was big, misshapen, and so bad that Microsoft ended up redesigning it into something called the Xbox Controller S- a wonderful controller that set the standard for all Xbox controllers going forward.

People, however, are weird, and there are many who unironically hold nostalgia for the Duke. Those strange people will be happy to know that the controller will be returning this year- Hyperkin has announced...

  • ‘We Have Something For Everyone,’ Says ID@Xbox Boss

Xbox has made massive strides in providing a supportive environment for independent game developers - while it blazed the trail in this area with the Xbox 360, it had begun to fall behind by the end of the generation, especially as rival Sony and even Nintendo caught up. With the introduction of the Xbox One, it seemed as though Microsoft was hell bent on burning bridges with a community it had once fostered.

That was then- things have improved massively since then, and Xbox provides independent developers with a welcoming and supportive platform. And that is something that the head of Xbox’s indie game initiative ID@Xbox is really proud of.

“I’m very, very proud of what we’ve done with ID@Xbox, opening up and allowing all sorts of experience to come to the platform, all corners of the spectrum of ideas,”ID@Xbox Europe boss Agostino Simonetta said to Eurogamer. “So yes, it’s great to have titles like Inside and Astroneers and Raiders of the Broken Planet or Rime – those titles are very, very important, they increase our awareness, because you guys love them, everybody loves them, but it’s important as well to have a varied portfolio.

“I think it’s about the mix. I think it’s about the broad range of experiences, rather than focusing on the pillar titles, or one title in particular. You always want titles people are excited about, we love those titles because it’s a way to round people up around the message that you’re giving, but I think it’s more about the balance of the portfolio that you have. Today, we really have something for everybody. You go from Snake Pass, which I will be playing with my daughters, to Path of Exile, which my daughters won’t be able to play! And then you have an old-style adventure game from one of the founders of the genre, Ron Gilbert, and then you have games like Aaero.”

Independent games do ultimately provide for kinds of experiences that the AAA market simply cannot account for- they flesh out a system’s library, and add depth and dimension to it. It is good to see Microsoft have embraced this segment of the market.
