  • Xbox Boss Wants “To Give Our Games More Time” at E3
    Bald Bouncer
Though it’s still less than three months away, Microsoft has been teasing its E3 2017 plans for some time now. We know that Project Scorpio will be a major part of the presentation but it seems the company wants to give more time for its games as well.

This is according to Xbox boss Phil Spencer on Twitter who noted that, “I want to give our games more time on stage at E3. I sometimes feel like we rush telling the story of our games at E3.”

    This could be in reference...

  • Darksiders, Darksiders 2, and Assassin’s Creed Revelations Newest Backward Compatible
    Bald Bouncer
Microsoft has announced three new games being added to its list of Xbox 360 backward compatible games running on Xbox One. They’re three AAA Xbox 360 games, and while they’re not ever going to be topping any lists, they’re all reasonably cool games that more people should play and try out.

The games in question are Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Darksiders, and Darksiders 2. Now to be fair, we already knew about the former two- they had been announced as Games With Gold games...

  • Games With Gold April Ryse: Son of Rome, The Walking Dead, AC, and Darksiders
    Bald Bouncer
April will probably be the very best month that Microsoft’s Games With Gold service has had yet- the games for this month will include four rather good titles, across Xbox 360 and Xbox One both- which means that subscribers will be getting some real bang for their buck here.

Over on the Xbox One, the two headlining titles include Telltale’s The Walking Dead Season 2, and Crytek’s Ryse: Son of Rome. While the latter particularly was panned upon release, it is the kind of game...

  • Daytona USA Headlines New Batch Of Xbox One Backward Compatible Games
    Bald Bouncer
The newest batch of Xbox 360 backward compatible games on the Xbox One has been revealed - it’s a relatively lower profile bunch of games this time around, with the headlining game being Daytona USA. Of course, ardent fans of the classic arcade racer will tell you that Daytona USA is better than just about any other major AAA title Microsoft could have put up on the store- honestly, they’d probably be right, too.

The other two games that are included as part of this update are...

  • Halo Wars 2 Receives First Add-On Leader With Kinsano
    Bald Bouncer
Ranked competitive multiplayer is still missing from Microsoft’s Halo Wars 2 but new content is still coming for the action RTS. A new leader is currently available via DLC – Lt. Colonel Morgan “Inferno” Kinsano. The add-on costs £4.79 and comes with the Season Pass.

Having first fought for the Insurrection and then the Covenant, Kinsano is now waging war against the Banished on the Spirit of Fire. She’s an interesting personality, willing to burn down the entire Ark before...

If you don’t own a PlayStation, and can’t play Persona on April 4, you’ll still have something to occupy you- Capcom has announced that Dead Rising: Frank Rising, the newest DLC for last Winter’s Dead Rising 4 which sees Frank West himself become a zombie, will be available on that date. You can purchase it for $9.99 USD, or get it as part of the Season Pass.

Xbox One Dashboard Losing The Snap Feature

Microsoft has been talking quite a bit lately about its’ upcoming dashboard UI update. One of the details about this refresh that just became available is that it will feature the removal of a function that is one of the more original functions on any console out right now.

Microsoft’s Mike Ybarra confirmed on Twitter that the Xbox One dashboard will soon not have the Snap function any longer. Ybarra said the removal is so that the dashboard will, “improve multitasking, reduce...

  • Xbox One New Update Adds ‘Copilot’ Feature, Accessibility Options

One of the best features on the PS4, I have always felt, is SharePlay - the ability for a player to stream their game to a friend over the internet, and then, over the internet, hand over control of that game, so that their friend can help them through a tricky spot in the game. SharePlay can also be used to effectively approximate and substitute for local co-op- in other words, it’s just an all around great feature, and the kind of ‘next generation evolution’ that this cycle of consoles has...

  • Xbox One Scorpio Specs Detailed In Leak- ESRAM Gone, Boosted L2 Cache, And More

So far, we haven’t had much in the way of hard numbers as far as the Xbox One Scorpio goes- Microsoft announced it at E3 last year, with the promise that the system would be able to target 4K gaming, thanks to a 6 TFLOPs GPU- and that was a pretty ambitious promise. It was also the only firm commitment we got from Microsoft.

Since then, we’ve been left to speculate about what else the system’s specs might entail. Reports earlier this year suggested that Microsoft may be using...

  • TowerFall Ascension Heading to Xbox One on January 25th

Remember TowerFall Ascension, the crazy 2D multiplayer title that focused on flicking arrows, killing your friends and hopping about stages? After releasing on the PC, PS4 and PS Vita (let’s pretend the Ouya release never happened), it’s finally coming to Xbox One on January 25th as per Eurogamer.

Developed by Matt Thorson, TowerFall Ascension was pegged for release on Xbox One back in August 2015. Along with a release date for the base game, it was also announced that the latest...

According to a recent blog post, when users push the home button the guide is going to pop up in just one push. The company has also said the guide is going to be featuring items that Microsoft...

  • Microsoft Xbox Boss – Cloud Tech Is Working Great, Crackdown 3 World Feels Alive

Remember ‘the power of the cloud’? That was the big thing that Microsoft and Xbox executives were touting for the Xbox One at the beginning of the generation. In the end, it all came to nothing, of course- while cloud gaming may some day happen in the future, our present day bandwidth infrastructure simply cannot support it.

There were going to be a lot of cloud powered games, that would make the Xbox One far more powerful than the PS4. In the end, it will be just one game that...

  • Microsoft’s Position With Exclusive Games Concering After Scalebound Cancellation

So, you’ve probably heard the news by now - Scalebound is cancelled. Microsoft announced that the eagerly anticipated Xbox One and Windows 10 exclusive from Platinum Games’ Hideki Kamiya (known for classics like Resident Evil 2, Viewtiful Joe, Devil May Cry, Okami, Bayonetta, and The Wonderful 101) was cancelled yesterday, after nearly four years of development.

  • Crackdown 3 Development “Not Going Too Hot Either” – Insider

Between Microsoft cancelling Platinum Games’ Scalebound, rumours of the publisher setting difficult milestones for the studio and many pointing out the number of titles that were just outright cancelled by the House of Xbox, things are looking rather dicey for Phil Spencer and his crew.

And apparently Crackdown 3, an Xbox One/PC title that’s seen delays and lack of information, is also floundering. Industry insider shinobi602 addressed Scalebound’s cancellation on NeoGAF, noting...

  • Xbox Scorpio ‘Beefier Than Expected,’ Says Halo Developer

There’s been so much speculation and news flying all around the place when it comes to the Scorpio that at some point, you’re not sure just what you should believe, and what you should be skeptical of. So it’s always nice when some official sources decide to oblige us with comments that can nudge us in the right direction.

  • Halo The Master Chief Collection Could Receive More Updates

343 Industries’ Halo: The Master Chief Collection didn’t exactly have the best launch in the history of gaming. The Xbox One compilation of past Halo titles released in 2014 and faced several bugs and issues including long matchmaking times, server issues, you name it.

Though the developer has improved on the experience dramatically, it’s still far from great. Support isn’t completely over though. Community manager Brian Jarrard recently commented on a post from the Halo sub-Reddit...

  • Alan Wake and Quantum Break’s Linear Gameplay Was A ‘Missed Opportunity’

Remedy are an extremely talented studio- they changed the game with Max Payne, and while Alan Wake‘s impact wasn’t as far reaching, it was an excellent game that remains beloved to this day. And sure, they dropped the ball with Quantum Break, but everyone is allowed a dud or two- Quantum Break doesn’t take away from their talent and what they have accomplished so far. Especially when Remedy have a chance to learn from where they went wrong, and grow in the future.

    Speaking to...

We’re headed into the new year, the year that Microsoft will finally be detailing more of their upcoming Xbox One Scorpio, ahead of its Holiday 2017 launch. However, it’s not like they haven’t talked about the system so far- in fact, one could easily make the argument that they have talked too much about it. So of course, excited and eager fans want to learn more of it.

Forza Motorsport 7 Leaked By Fanatec CEO

At this point, we all probably expected a Forza Motorsport 7 for next year- over the last few years, Microsoft’s racing franchise has settled into a nice, comfortable rhythm of a Motorsport game releasing one year, and a Horizon game releasing the next. With Forza Horizon 3 releasing this year, it was Forza Motorsport 7‘s turn next year.

However, even with the general predictability of the franchise’s release schedule, Microsoft are unlikely to be happy with Fanatec CEO Thomas...

  • State of Decay 2 Has “Substantially Larger” World Than Original

State of Decay 2 is one of Microsoft’s more under-stated exclusives for 2017 but given the success of the original, it could end up being a dark horse. Then again, we do know that it will have a large world than the original.

This is per Undead Labs CEO Jeff Strain telling IGN that, “I know SoD fans are hungry for details on number and size of maps, regions, kilometers of playable area, etc, but we’re not quite ready for that. For now, suffice it to say that the playable...
