  • Star Wars Battlefront 2 Will Be A Linear Story But Will Follow Different Perspectives
    Bald Bouncer
Star Wars: Battlefront 2 may be promising a story based campaign, but it will still stay true to the series’s, and Star Wars’s as a whole, strengths. Don’t expect it to be non linear, giving you full agency or anything- Battlefront 2 will be a largely linear experience, mostly following the story of its protagonist, though it will periodically change perspectives.

“Without getting into too much detail that I will get in trouble for… We take all of our cues from how to tell...

  • ELEX Prologue Trailer Explains The Newest Apocalyptic Future
    Bald Bouncer
Post-apocalyptic scenarios may be played out but that’s not stopping Nordic Games’ ELEX, developed by Piranha Bytes, from presenting a future dystopia. Check out the prologue trailer below to learn more about the setting.

As a sci-fi/fantasy RPG mash-up, ELEX is about a planet called Magalan that’s hit by a strange comet. This comet lays waste to cities, generates firestorms and pretty much leaves the world barren.

Three factions rise up in the aftermath – Berserkers,...

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: WWII, this year’s iteration of the franchise coming from Sledgehammer Games, will be revealed on April 26th. However, thanks to some promotional material from a retailer (via WCCFTech), we know a bit more about what the game entails.

Normandy and the traumatic beach landing on D-Day will be included along with the “iconic locations” in Europe, capturing the conflicts reaching during World War 2. “Classic” Call of Duty combat...

    Bald Bouncer
Bungie’s latest hotfix for Destiny will be going live today at 10 AM PDT. Hotfix 2.6.0.2 will fix a few issues that have cropped up since the Age of Triumph update dropped. One of those is for a bug that caused Trials of Osiris matches to go on and on. Those who have seen numerous notifications will also see a fix for the same. As such, Bungie is pretty much cruising along for the first game while Destiny 2 demands the lion’s share of developer resources. We already know that the first gameplay...

  • Resident Evil 8 Could Be Very Different From Resident Evil 7 Capcom Says

The fourth and final video in the Making of Resident Evil 7 video series from Capcom was released today, and the company shared some intriguing insights into where it thinks the franchise – and really, survival horror as a whole, as a genre – is headed in the future, especially in the wake of Resident Evil 7‘s unexpected success.

“We want this title to be the start of a new kind of survival horror and of a new series. We’re already thinking about various plans for the next game, but we also want to see how we can continue to evolve survival horror itself,” said Executive Producer Jun Takeuchi in this video.

“In the next few years, technology will continue to advance and what players want may also change, but we will always want to create horror experiences where the characters overcome a difficult situation. That, to me, is what survival horror is all about, and the next Resident Evil game and the one after that, every future Resident Evil, will feature characters getting through crises like this.

“And so the current masterpiece is just the beginning. Plans for the next title are already in motion and, when you see that game, you may find that it is very different from Resident Evil 7 in some ways, while still retaining that core survival horror concept of people overcoming the odds. Resident Evil will always retain that essence.”

Essentially, then- it sounds like Capcom is unlikely to lose the focus on survival horror in favor of a more action game oriented focus like it did with Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6 ever again- but other core components of the franchise may well be switched. While I have hope that Capcom will continue to explore the first person viewpoint some more with the next game in the series, I will not begrudge them wanting to explore alternate viewpoints and formats for their games going forward- they have more than proven themselves, and earned the benefit of the doubt on that.
