Sony has announced that its upcoming series of PlayStation Now-compatible 4K "Ultra HD" Bravia televisions, first revealed at CES 2014, will launch in June. A total of nine models from three series will hit the market with prices ranging from a $2,099 (49") to $24,999 (85"). With the ability to access Sony's upcoming PlayStation Now service, the Bravia sets will be able to stream PS3 games and play with a DualShock 3 controller (which, for the price, you'd hope would be included, but Sony's press release doesn't specify). The foundation for PlayStation Now is Gaikai ...

Nintendo reportedly turned down a deal that would have launched Activision's highly successful toys-come-to-life series Skylanders exclusively for the Wii. A report from Polygon on the Toys for Bob franchise notes that, despite Activision's confidence in the product, it was looking for a partner to spread the risks of the venture. "[Nintendo] spent a long time looking and looking," Toys for Bob co-founder Paul Reiche said. "They were just like 'we have never seen anything like this before.' I've always wondered about the full meaning of that comment [laughs]." Nintendo opted ...

Titanfall wouldn't have been released at all without some last-minute investment from Microsoft, according to a fascinating, book-length report on the game's tumultuous development. Composed by Spike TV's Geoff Keighley, the Final Hours of Titanfall is a pretty startling read that includes concept artworks and videos of pre-release versions of the game, in addition to a breakdown of Respawn's almost-ruinous legal clash with Activision. It'll set you back £1.69, and is available on iTunes, Steam and the Windows Store. Among other things, the e-book covers early ideas ...

Well now this is curious, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 game appears to have been indefinitely delayed, perhaps even cancelled, for the Xbox One. The official site is still offering pre-orders for the Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Wii U, 3DS and PC versions, but artwork depicting the Xbox One box cover has been pulled, with no reason given for the sudden disappearance. The game was set to release on the Xbox One on 29th April in the US - the same day as all the other platforms. Reports are also coming in that players who pre-ordered the Xbox One version of the game are ...

As promised, the Tequila Works-developed survival game, Deadlight, is the latest freebie for Xbox Live Gold members. The Xbox 360 game – regularly priced at $15 – will remain free until April 30. In her review of Deadlight, Jess Conditt said the game "shines in its detailed world-building," though its gameplay "fails to live up to the standard" set by the game's "glorious" art direction. The Xbox Live Games with Gold program offers two free titles per month to Live subscribers. Earlier this month users were offered a free copy of Hitman: Absolution. Unlike the ...

We've all had our secret victories in the war against wobble: freely standing in the shower on one foot while washing the other, or rejecting the easy-mode handrails of a jostling train. Trials Fusion is about those quick, instinctual corrections you make – or fail to make – when there's a bump in the road. Balance is divine in Trials Fusion, and mastering it makes you a god on a motorcycle. Respawn plans to improve its "update tempo" for future improvements to Titanfall, upping the frequency of announcements related to updates as well as the patches themselves. Fukuda also discussed both convenience and infrastructural features, the former making "life more pleasant" for players in the game. Future convenience feature ...

The term "simulation" is appropriate for MLB 14: The Show, but not just because of its beautiful presentation, a defining trait of the series that's become a benchmark for other sports video games. Rather, MLB 14: The Show earns its simulation stripes by continuing the series' tradition of challenging players with mechanics and statistics that mirror the real sport. While MLB's gameplay has changed little this year, no matter what option players select for pitching, fielding and hitting (we'll get to that later), they will fail or succeed as regularly as athletes do in the big leagues ...

Microsoft has just announced a special spring sale, with a bunch of Games on Demand and DLC packs on offer. In particular, I'd direct your attention to Borderlands 2, which is now roundabouts a fiver in made-up British money, and Saints Row 4, which is roundabouts a tenner. The former is more abundant in co-op and randomly generated guns, while the latter allows you to shoulder-barge through traffic like a Labrador jumping into a box of packing foam. Witness ...

Titanfall isn't just the name of Respawn's popular online shooter, it's also one of the most satisfying attacks in said game. Drop a titan on a pilot and the pilot becomes bloody goo. Drop one on another titan, and that titan becomes burning scrap. But what if you were to drop a titan on an enemy evac ship? That idea is put to the test at the 1:52 mark of the above clip. While you can destroy an evac ship with a falling titan, it's not as simple as it sounds. They key problem is that a titan will fall right through an evac ship as if it weren't there. However, on certain maps, when ...

Originally developed by Housemarque (the studio responsible for favorite shooter Resogun), Dead Nation drops players into an ongoing zombie apocalypse. From a top-down perspective, would-be survivors navigate a decrepit city, blasting hordes of ambulatory corpses while collecting health packs, explosives and cash useful for upgrading both guns and a player's armor. Despite the zombies, Dead Nation ...
