MANILA, Philippines – A leading player in the mobile phone industry is bringing in more new handsets this year to highlight its trademark in communication and entertainment.

“If we are introducing Xperia, we will not stop there. We will also be introducing another product which is the Walkman series,” said Sony Ericsson Philippines’ General Manager, Dennis Manzano.

Manzano revealed that Sony Ericsson has 4 more phones—Xperia X8, Walkman phones Spiro and Zylo, and the first full-touch Walkman handset, Yendo—that will add to its growing number of handsets available to consumers.

“This quarter, we are also introducing the Sony Ericsson X8. So this completes the portfolio for the Xperia for this year,” said Manzano.

Xperia line

During the press launch of Sony Ericsson’s Expo 2010 at SM Megamall, Manzano said the X8 “brings the product to an even more affordable level”.

Coming on the heels of the success of the Xperia X10, and its miniature versions, the X10 Mini and X10 Mini Pro, the X8 brings the Xperia line to an even broader audience.

“This product is very similar to the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini. But this time, it's going to have a 3.2 megapixel camera, and will have a much bigger screen compared to the X10 mini. It will still have the changeable covers,” Manzano said.

The Xperia Line, powered by Android, is the flagship line of Sony Ericsson. Android is an open market that offers 50,000 free applications which can be downloaded into the Android device.

Walkman series

Meanwhile, Manzano said the company’s Walkman portfolio continues to perform well in the Philippines as well as in other markets.

“Coming soon, we are introducing 2 Walkman products--the Sony Ericsson Spiro and the Sony Ericsson Zylo,” he said.

Spiro and Zylo both provide consumers with the best music experience aside from the social networking connections. Spiro carries the Sony Ericsson Walkman music player, Bluetooth stereo, FM radio and 3.5 mm jack. The Zylo, on the other hand, gives excellent sound quality on a mobile phone.

The company will also be making available to the public the first full-touch Walkman phone.

“[In the] late third quarter, we will be introducing the first full-touch Walkman phone--the Sony Ericsson Yendo. The Yendo will bring you a Sony Ericsson Walkman experience in full touchscreen. This is the kind of portfolio that you can expect from Sony Ericsson,” Manzano said.
